Biography
Proposed engineering demonstrator, recreational boxer and later club technician. He would have developed coaching through teaching people with different learning speeds rather than through a fabricated championship career. His first professional pupil’s refusal to follow an unexplained cue became the basis of his teaching method, with no existing WCBC identity attached to that anecdote.
Personality
Inquisitive, exacting and unexpectedly delighted by a useful contradiction. He can be sarcastic about a vague explanation but dislikes cruelty disguised as honesty.
Coaching philosophy
Respect is shown by supplying a reason and listening to the answer; a fighter still owes the agreed work after understanding the reason.
Specialities
Double-jab entries, safe closing frames, repeatable foot placement and compact hook sequencing.
Signature methods
The one-variable round changes only distance, tempo or target. A question card remains beside the timer until the athlete can turn it into a test rather than another debate.
Corner behaviour
“First step. Then the second.” He offers a short physical cue and a yes-or-no question, reserving the long explanation for after the bout.
Sparring behaviour
He stops before a debate becomes a harder exchange. He asks which observable cue triggered the entry and makes both partners restate the task before resuming.
Fighter relationships
He treats Amadou’s questions as useful work, insists Bjørn let another person finish and refuses to excuse Otto Fischer’s provocation because it was clever.
Strengths
Patient explanation, resourceful equipment adaptation and a refusal to confuse status with knowledge.
Flaws
Can overexplain and become defensive when a neat mechanical model misses an emotional problem.
Appearance
Red-and-white Basenji with a pale greying muzzle, sharply expressive brows and a tightly curled tail; compact wiry frame and callused hands.
Professional attire
Grey short-sleeved mechanic-style shirt, oxide track trousers, soft boxing shoes and a chalk-smudged wristband.
