Biography
Proposed background: Rafi fought as an amateur, then built his professional coaching experience as a travelling assistant responsible for rhythm work, defensive exits and sparring preparation. Radio repair and rehearsal organising paid bills between camps and gave him a language for timing; they did not teach him to box. After years translating a head trainer's instructions into repeatable practice, he opened Switchyard to lead a programme of his own. He knows how quickly a clever improvisation becomes an expensive mistake if the defensive ending has not been learned.
Personality
Funny, inventive and socially attentive, with an increasingly firm belief that deadlines are a kindness.
Coaching philosophy
Surprise belongs in the entry, not in whether you arrive for a promised session.
Specialities
Broken rhythm, shoulder disguise, foot pivots and preserving balance through an apparently loose attack.
Signature methods
The mute round removes music and banter; the boxer must supply internal timing. Route cards permit a surprising entry only if the agreed exit remains available.
Corner behaviour
Drops the jokes immediately; gives a rhythmic cue in plain words, then checks the athlete actually heard the instruction.
Sparring behaviour
Laughs at a clever idea, then asks to see it twice without the risky flourish. Stops an audience forming around reckless contact.
Fighter relationships
Beau’s spontaneity gets a calendar; Dante Marin’s jokes get an honest follow-up. Finley receives affection without automatic attention, while Noah’s melancholy is heard rather than forced into cheerfulness.
Strengths
Creates permission to experiment, spots disguised timing and shifts from comedy to care without a lecture.
Flaws
Sometimes rescues an awkward silence with humour before the person has finished. His own exciting ideas can still delay tedious administration.
Appearance
Adult male blue-grey Bedlington Terrier, distinctive narrow arched head, natural hanging ears, dark bright eyes and a compact springy build.
Professional attire
Violet zip jacket, cream T-shirt, orange canvas trainers and a repaired radio earpiece used only outside contact work.
